Wyobraska cattle sales report

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Feb. 12 totaled 9,500 head, compared to 5,300 head last week and 3,200 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $3 higher at the Wyoming auctions. Direct feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher on comparable sales, and heifers not well tested. Direct trade was slow. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer and seller inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 67% of the supply, heifers 33%, with 77% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 3720 head of the total receipts.

Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 375 lbs., 142.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 134.25 to 137.00; 500 to 535 lbs., 122.00 to 129.25; 595 lbs., 113.00; 900 lbs., 99.25. Medium frame 1, 890 lbs., 95.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 650 lbs., 114.00 delivered; 675 to 690 lbs., 109.00 to 110.50; 700 lbs., 110.00 delivered; 725 to 750 lbs., 104.00 to 110.00; 750 lbs., 106.75 delivered; 810 lbs., 102.00 delivered; 825 to 880 lbs., 101.00 to 101.50; 900 lbs., 99.00.
