Watertown cattle sales report
The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,600 head Feb. 23, compared to 1,950 head last week and 2,250 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 lower. Concern for the Canadian border decision is a factor. Feeder steers made up 59% of the run, heifers 41%, with 90% over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 570 to 584 lbs., 121.00 to 123.00 (122.79); 632 to 645 lbs., 113.50 to 119.25 (118.62); 662 to 693 lbs., 107.75 to 112.00 (109.32); 700 to 743 lbs., 102.00 to 105.90 (103.32); 712 to 727 lbs., 97.00 to 99.00 (97.25) fleshy; 766 to 795 lbs., 96.50 to 98.50 (97.43); 807 to 832 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00 (97.12); 883 to 898 lbs., 91.50 to 92.75 (91.98); 920 to 949 lbs., 92.40 to 93.00 (92.59); 15 head, 958 to 966 lbs., 91.20 to 92.10 (91.68). Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 26 head, 800 lbs., 83.50.
Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 12 head, 1165 to 1185 lbs., 68.00 to 71.00 (69.26).
