Tulsa stockyard sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,743 head Feb. 21, compared to 1,253 head last week and 2,667 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, light weight steers $2 to $3 lower, with feeder steers $2 higher. Light weight heifers were $2 higher, with feeder heifers $2 lower. Quality was fair to attractive. Weigh to ups were average. Good attendance of buyers with demand and active on all classes. Favorable weather conditions have increased cattle offerings considerably. Receipts were comprised of 50% steers, 44% heifers, 6% bulls, with 24% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to $1 lower. Bred cows continue to go back to the country. A total of 472 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 400 to 440 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00 (121.46); 5 head, 453 to 493 lbs., 109.00 to 125.00 (121.74); 6 head, 512 to 518 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00 (112.51); 12 head, 554 to 578 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (111.96). Small and Medium frame 1, 5 head, 475 lbs., 112.00.

Boners, 60 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1600 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 60.50; low dressing, 49.50 to 53.00. Lean, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1575 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.50. Light, 23 head, 85 to 90% lean, 775 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 33 head, 1350 to 2125 lbs., 64.50 to 68.00; high dressing, 69.00 to 71.50; low dressing, 60.00 to 63.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 3 to 5 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality 885.00 to 925.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1050 to 1350 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, average quality 835.00 to 1010.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 6 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., with 125- to 200-lb. calves, average blacks 1050.00 to 1285.00.
