Tree care workshop series offered across the stateNebraska Nebraska tree care workshops will be offered at six locations across the state in February and March. The workshops provide basic and advanced information about tree care for arborists, nursery professionals, groundskeepers and others who work with trees, said Scott Josiah, state forester with the Nebraska Forest Service at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. "This year, two workshops will be offered including morning technical sessions for green industry professionals and evening sessions for landowners," Josiah said. At each site, Tree Care Techniques for Professionals will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Selection, Planting and Care of Trees: A Homeowner's Guide will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Registration begins a half hour before each workshop starts. The morning workshop provides advanced training to professionals on the proper care of Nebraska's tree resources, Josiah said. The evening workshop offers basic information on what every homeowner needs to know about trees. Landscape tree care is the main focus of the workshops though most topics can apply to trees in any situation. Morning workshop topics include: tree risk and appraisal; common and emerging insect and disease problems; and trees and chemicals.
