St. Onge cattle sales

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 449 head Feb. 11, compared to 1,031 head last week and 525 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder calves were too few to test. Slaughter cows sold $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were scarce. Feeder receipts included 33% steers and 67% heifers, with 25% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 31% feeders, 10% slaughter cows, 6% bred cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 2% replacement females, 27% registered females, and 19% registered bulls and the balance was feeder bulls and baby calves.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 567 to 572 lbs., 127.00 to 128.00 (127.50); 11 head, 668 lbs., 113.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 542 to 549 lbs., 122.00 to 126.50 (123.87); 21 head, 592 lbs., 114.00; 5 head, 606 lbs., 111.00 full.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 1 head, 75% lean, 1620 lbs., 59.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1175 to 1510 lbs., 56.00 to 58.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 55.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1040 to 1385 lbs., 55.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 58.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 51.50 to 54.50.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 835 to 1060 lbs., 81.00 to 88.00; 2 years old, 1135 to 1205 lbs., 67.00 to 71.00; heiferettes, 1075 to 1280 lbs., 59.50 to 61.50.

Bred cows: Large frame 1, 5 head, solid, 1393 lbs., red-black, bred black, calve Apr. 10, 885.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 7 head, solid to short term, 1132 to 1259 lbs., red-black, bred black, calve Apr. 10, 755.00 to 765.00; 9 head, short term , 1148 to 1315 lbs., red, bred black, calve Apr. 10, 730.00 to 775.00.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1, 850 to 905 lbs., 82.00 to 89.50; 1060 lbs., 77.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1695 to 2160 lbs., 67.00 to 69.00; high dressing, 72.50 to 73.50; low dressing, 61.50 to 64.50.
