Salina cattle salesThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,449 head Feb. 17, compared to 2,087 head last week and 3,305 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers 300 to 650-pounds and feeder heifers 300- to 600-pounds not enough for market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers 650- to 850-pounds were $1 lower, 850- to 1000-pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers 600- to 950-pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under, 4% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 64% steers and 36% heifers.
