The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 2,000 head Dec. 20, compared to 3,729 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold fully steady. Although, 550- to 650-pound steers were steady to $2 higher, however weights over 800 pounds sold weak to mostly $2 lower. The supply was light, with several consignments, especially on the start, not as attractive as last week. Demand was good on calves and moderate on heavier calves and yearlings. Boxed beef prices continues on a roll, as values were sharply higher again for the day and the ready cattle showlists reportedly are said to be smaller this week in many areas. Both aiding the possibilities of added leverage for cattle feeders and feed yards when trade develops later in the week. The supply consisted of 58% steers and 42% heifers, with nearly 48% over 600 pounds.
