The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,947 head Dec. 19, compared to 2,664 head last week and 1,520 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Compared to last week, steer calves were $2 to $4 higher. Heifer calves were steady to $2 higher with light weight heifers $5 to $8 higher. Quality was fair to attractive. Demand was good. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 37% steers, 51% heifers, 12% bulls, with 24% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows sold $3 to $4 higher, with bulls $1 to $2 higher. A total of 427 cows and bulls sold with 30% going to packers.
