The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,758 head Dec. 19, compared to 3,234 head last week and 2,117 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers were mostly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 56% of the run, heifers 44%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 79%.
