Texhoma cattle auction news

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 1,293 head Dec. 22, compared to 1,266 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and steer calves were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. Heifer calves were steady. Demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 60 head of cows and bulls sold with 75% to packers. The supply consisted of 86% over 600 pounds, 43% heifers, and 5% cows and bulls.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 23 head, 575 lbs., 125.00 calves; 5 head, 678 lbs., 118.00 calves; 24 head, 781 lbs., 112.50 calves; 628 to 629 lbs., 119.50 to 124.00 (120.15). Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 31 head, 607 lbs., 118.50 calves; 135 head, 695 lbs., 114.75; 95 head, 722 lbs., 116.60; 825 to 846 lbs., 109.10 to 111.00 (110.16); 61 head, 871 lbs., 109.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 432 lbs., 127.00; 503 to 536 lbs., 116.00 to 118.50 (116.48) calves; 562 to 574 lbs., 116.50 to 117.50 (117.32) calves; 619 to 642 lbs., 115.25 to 115.35 (115.29); 15 head, 695 lbs., 110.50; 715 to 749 lbs., 110.00 to 112.75 (110.33); 85 head, 767 lbs., 109.50; 9 head, 973 lbs., 99.25.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1575 lbs., 48.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 44.00 to 47.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 45.50 to 47.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1400 to 1850 lbs., 60.00 to 62.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 53.50 to 59.50.
