The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported estimated receipts of 700 head Dec. 19, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Slaughter lambs were steady to $2 lower. Not enough slaughter ewes to establish market trend, however, a steady to weak undertone was noted. Feeder lambs were steady to weak on a light test. Supplies were nearly 78% slaughter lambs with about 20% feeder lambs and the balance mostly slaughter ewes.
Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice end Prime 2 to 3, fall shorn 141 to 143 lbs., 84.75. Wooled, Choice end Prime 2 to 3, 133 lbs., 81.75; 142 to 148 lbs., 75.00 to 79.75; 153 lbs., 72.00.
Slaughter ewes: Few, Utility and Good 2 to 3, 43.00 to 48.50, few Cull 1 to 2, 30.00 to 42.00.
Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 66 to 87 lbs., 107.00 to 116.00; 90 to 99 lbs 96.00 to 103.50; 107 to 109 lbs., 90.00 to 91.25; 121 lbs., 80.50.
