St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 954 head Dec. 15, compared to 844 head last week and 2,402 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, trends on feeder lambs not applicable due to light receipts. Slaughter ewes sold steady to $2 higher. Receipts were about 53% slaughter ewes, 35% feeder lambs, 8% aged bucks and the balance was slaughter lambs, miscellaneous sheep and goats.

Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 16 head, 132 lbs., 79.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 129 head, 146 lbs., 54.50; 87 head, 174 lbs., 50.50. Good 3 to 4, 45 head, 203 lbs., 48.25. Utility 1 to 2, 119 head, 150 lbs., 52.25. Cull 1, 104 head, 134 lbs., 51.00.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 92 head, 64 lbs., 144.00; 50 head, 83 lbs., 125.00; 34 head, 96 lbs., 112.75; 66 head, 107 lbs., 102.00. Medium frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 67 lbs., 130.00; 7 head, 99 lbs., 104.50. Medium frame 2, 50 head, 49 lbs., 129.00.

Aged bucks: 55 head, fleshy 209 lbs., 33.00; 17 head, Medium frame, 195 lbs., 25.00.
