Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 3,429 head Dec. 16, compared to 1,366 head last week and 2,021 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, light slaughter lambs were $15 to $20 higher, heavy weights were $10 to $20 higher. Stock and feeder goats were firm on a light test. Slaughter goats were $5 to $15 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder lambs: Pairs, wool, Medium and large frame 1 and 2, few pairs with small lambs 60.00 per head. Barbados, ewes and ewe lambs 60 to 70 lbs., 74.00 to 105.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime, 40 to 85 lbs., 125.00 to 162.00, few to 190.00 to 210.00; 90 to 130 lbs., 100.00 to 128.00, few 90 to 100 lbs., 131.00 to 132.00. Ewes, Good, 100 to 145 lbs., 62.00 to 71.00. Utility, 50.00 to 60.00. Bucks, 140 to 235 lbs., 54.00 to 63.00, few light weights to 75.00. Barbados, lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 130.00 to 175.00; 45 to 75 lbs., 140.00 to 152.50. Ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 68.00 to 81.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 129.00 to 140.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 124.00 to 139.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 135.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 124.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 145 lbs., 70.00 to 90.00, few to 100.00. Selection 2, 50.00 to 70.00. Angoras, few 80 lbs., 66.00. Billies, 85 to 200 lbs., 96.00 to 117.00, few to 120.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 135 lbs., 95.00 to 111.00. Selection 2, Angoras, few 98 lbs., 67.50.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 70 lbs., fancy 127.00 to 140.00. Nannies, Selection 1, few 80 to 115 lbs., 73.00 to 106.00. Pairs, 32.00 to 40.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, few 90 lbs., 127.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Few 35 to 50 lbs., 132.00 to 136.00.
