Georgia cattle sales summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Dec. 16, showed receipts of 12,600 head, compared to 11,200 head last week and 10,900 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to last, slaughter cows were $2 higher, bulls were $2 to $3 higher, feeder steers were unevenly steady, heifers were mostly steady, steer calves and heifer calves were steady to $2 higher, replacement cows were steady to $2 higher.

The offering included 6% steers over 600 pounds, 37% steers under 600 pounds, 4% heifers over 600 pounds, 31% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 11% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
