The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Fort Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 560 head Dec. 19, compared to 1,132 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. The supply included 248 feeder calves, 184 feeder yearlings, 66 replacement cows, 54 slaughter cows, 8 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 35% English breed and English crosses, 35% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahma and Brahma crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other diary breeds. The feeder supply was about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 45.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 42.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 36.00 to 41.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 45.50 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 55.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 54.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 64.00.
