Tulsa livestock sales reportThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,345 head Aug. 22, compared to 2,641 head last week and 2,606 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, light weight steers sold $3 to $5 higher, with feeder steers steady to $3 higher. Lightweight heifers were $3 to $5 higher, with feeder heifers $2 to $4 higher. Quality was fair to attractive with weigh-ups mostly average. There was a good attendance of buyers with active demand. General rains across much of the state have improved grazing conditions. Receipts were comprised of 46% steers, 41% heifers, 13% bulls, with 21% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 higher. A total of 290 cows and bulls sold with 30% going to packers.
