The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,333 head Aug. 22, compared to 1,819 head last week and 2,984 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold $1 to $5 higher. Not enough slaughter cows and bulls for a market test. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 99% and slaughter cows and bulls 1%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 80% of the run, heifers 20%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 81%.
