The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 867 head Aug. 19, compared to 220 head last week and 978 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Trends on feeders were not applicable due to light receipts in previous sales. Buyer attendance was good with good demand. Compared to two weeks ago slaughter cows sold $2 lower. Slaughter bulls sold $4 lower. A large percentage of slaughter cows were low dressing. Feeder yearlings and fall calves included 63% steers and 37% heifers, with 100% over 600 pounds. Most of the feeders were light fleshed. Receipts were about 74% feeders, 13% slaughter cows, 7% slaughter bulls and the balance was feeder bulls, replacement females and baby calves.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 631 lbs., 121.50 calves; 23 head, 743 lbs., 117.75 calves; 6 head, 801 lbs., 112.00; 900 to 946 lbs., 102.25 to 105.25 (104.88); 974 to 999 lbs., 99.25 to 102.75 (101.88); 29 head, 1030 lbs., 100.00; 11 head, 1060 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 20 head, 920 to 944 lbs., 99.50 to 100.25 (99.87). Large frame 1, 6 head, 886 lbs., 103.00; 14 head, 1046 lbs., 98.25; 5 head, 1125 lbs., 93.50.

Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1205 to 1638 lbs., 52.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 51.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 905 to 1425 lbs., 49.25 to 52.75; low dressing, 44.50 to 48.00.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1 and 2, 733 lbs., 97.00; 810 to 835 lbs., 84.50 to 87.00; 925 to 1035 lbs., 80.50 to 81.00; 1150 to 1175 lbs., 71.50 to 78.00.

Baby calves: Holstein bulls, Large frame 1 and 2, 80 to 85 lbs., 150.00 to 175.00.
