Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported estimated receipts of 600 head Aug. 22, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were $1 to $2 higher. Good buyer demand. Slaughter ewes were mostly steady. Feeder lambs not recently tested, although a firm undertone was noted. Supplies were nearly 50% slaughter lambs with about 34% slaughter ewes and the balance mostly feeder lambs. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice end Prime 2 to 3, 130 to 140 lbs., 103.00 to 106.00; 115 to 129 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50. Choice end Prime 2 to 3, 1 and 2 pelts, 77 head, 147 lbs., 106.50, few head, 132 lbs., 103.50. Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good 2 to 3, 39.00 to 45.50, some returning to country 47.00 to 55.00. Cull 1 to 2, 31.00 to 37.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and large 1 to 2, 13 head, 42 lbs., 152.00; 20 head, 50 lbs., 144.00; 20 head, 81 lbs., 127.00. Date: 8/25/05
