The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,371 head Aug. 18, compared to 3,940 head last week and 2,092 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 600 pounds were steady, 600 to 700 pounds were $1 higher, and 700 to 950 pounds were steady. Feeder heifers weighing 350 to 650 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, and 650 to 800 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under, 2% bred cows, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 72% steers and 28% heifers.
