The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 4,883 head April 18, compared to 2,523 head last week and 4,128 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were mostly steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 600- to 1000-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 98% and slaughter cows and bulls 2% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 69% of the run, heifers 31%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 93%.
