The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 665 head April 15, compared to 2,220 head last week and 1,225 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle offered in small lots were too few to test. Slaughter cows sold steady. A high percentage of weigh-up cows went back to the country. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $1 higher on a light test. Feeder receipts included 72% heifers and 28% bulls, with 100% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 28% females back to the country, 23% feeders, 19% slaughter cows, 13% pairs, 6% baby calves, 3% bred cows, 3% slaughter bulls and the balance was mostly feeder bulls.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 671 lbs., 119.50; 17 head, 770 to 798 lbs., 101.75 to 103.50 (103.08). Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 618 to 628 lbs., 116.50 to 117.50 (117.00); 5 head, 681 lbs., 108.50.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1, 12 head, 720 to 722 lbs., 93.00 to 95.50 (93.62); 11 head, 894 lbs., 88.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1685 to 1838 lbs., 58.50 to 62.00; high dressing 64.00; low dressing 57.00 to 57.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1225 to 1565 lbs., 59.00 to 63.00; low dressing 57.00 to 59.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 955 to 1365 lbs., 57.50 to 62.00; low dressing 51.00 to 56.50.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 785 to 995 lbs., 82.00 to 94.00, few 94.75 to 97.50; 1050 to 1080 lbs., 81.00 to 83.00; 2 years old, 998 to 1169 lbs., 72.00 to 79.50; heiferettes, 965 to 1335 lbs., 64.00 to 71.00; feeder cows, Large frame 1, 1395 to 1560 lbs., 62.50 to 66.00. Medium and large frame 1, 1095 to 1365 lbs., 63.00 to 66.50 (most were young).

Baby calves: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, mixed sex and color, per head, 205 to 360 lbs., 375.00 to 425.00; 100 to 190 lbs., 285.00 to 340.00; 50 to 75 lbs., 225.00 to 300.00.

Bred females: Large frame 1, calve soon, per head, 5 head, young to short solid, 1468 to 1635 lbs., bred red, 1010.00 to 1085.00. Medium and large frame 1, calve soon, per head, 5 head, heifers, 1021 lbs., bred black, 1075.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, solid to broken, price per pair, 6 head, 1159 lbs., red with 160-lb. red-black calves, 1300.00; 7 head, 1300 to 1302 lbs., red-black, with 140- to 150-lb. black calves, 1100.00 to 1150.00; 19 head, 1166 to 1271 lbs., red-black with 75- to 100-lb. black calves 1075.00 to 1160.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 1500 to 2040 lbs., 68.00 to 73.75; high dressing, 75.00 to 75.50; low dressing, 65.75 to 67.25.
