Wyobraska cattle sale news
Friday, September 17, 2004The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and south Dakota auctions for the week ending Sept. 11, totaled 12,500 head, compared to 4,400 head last week and 12,000 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week at the Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 higher on comparable kinds. Direct trade on feeder steers and heifers $1 to $2 lower on comparable sales in a limited test. Direct trade slow. Demand was moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise stated direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 60% of the supply, heifers 40%, with 72% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 2100 head of the total receipts.
