Woodward cattle sales report

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 5,471 head Sept. 24, compared to 4,364 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. Steer calves under 550 pounds were steady to $2 lower, heavier weights were $1 to $2 higher. Heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower, over 600 pounds were $2 higher. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was full to average. Quality was average to plain end attractive. The supply was comprised of 54% steers, 42% heifers with 3% over 600 pounds.
