What are deer really worth?Texas What is the value of deer hunting to Central Texas? That question will be answered during the "Economic Impact of Deer Seminar" conducted by Texas Cooperative Extension at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 in San Saba's Rylander Memorial Library. Neal Alexander, Extension agent in San Saba County and the meeting's coordinator, said few realize how important deer are to local economies. "San Saba's Extension Executive Board believes we, as a community, need to know the true value of deer hunting to our region," Alexander said. "We have all heard that 'hunting is important to our economy,' but how many of us realize how very important it really is? "We have asked Dr. Jason Johnson, Extension economist at San Angelo, to fill us in on the particulars. Chris Wilson, San Saba-based Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden, will also be on the program to give an update on the game laws and regulations hunters and land owners need to be award of this season." The program is free and open to the public. Adjournment is set for noon. For more information contact Alexander at 325-372-5416. Date: 9/23/04
