West Plains regional cattle sales
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,816 head Sept. 21, compared to 5,404 head last week and 6,150 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers under 700 pounds and heifers under 650 pounds sold $2 to $4 lower, although some up to front uniform cattle sold steady to $2 lower. Heavier weight yearlings were steady to $1.50 higher. The supply was moderate to heavy. Demand was unevenly moderate to good, but best on front to end uniform calves and 6 and 7 weight yearlings. The supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers, with nearly 52% over 600 pounds.
