We should do our own thinkingRecently, I came across the following quote by Herbert Brodkin. "They have reduced the audience's level of receptivity to a bunch of monkey's asking for the same peanuts. And they are the same organ grinders giving it to them. If that sounds extreme, it's not. It's true." In my opinion, our society has blindly embraced the monkey on the leash, paying little or no attention to the organ grinder. I believe this to be true in today's politics, some farm commodity organizations, radio talk shows and a myriad of other narrowly focused special interest groups. It is imperative citizens of this nation start thinking for themselves. Remember, in the end it's all about money. My advice is to carefully evaluate the "music" being cranked out over and over by the "organ grinders." Pay much less attention to the monkey, for he serves interests other than yours. Beware! Do not tap your toes and sell your soul to those who continue to crank out the same misguided, worn out tune. --Tom Giessel, president, Pawnee County Farmers Union, Larned, Kan. Date: 9/22/04
