Watertown livestock sales

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported 1,450 head Sept. 14, compared to 1,500 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Due to the holiday last week there were no trends available. Strong demand for black steers and heifers. Offerings over 600 pounds were 72%. Feeder steers made up 40% of the run, heifers 60%.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 363 to 393 lbs., 142.00 to 148.00 (143.00); 15 head, 448 lbs., 134.00; 34 head, 485 lbs., 128.00; 556 to 583 lbs., 122.50 to 125.00 (124.12); 9 head, 612 to 645 lbs., 122.50 to 125.50 (124.13); 5 head, 652 lbs., 115.00; 18 head, 733 lbs., 117.50; 892 to 895 lbs., 106.75 to 106.90 (106.88); 911 to 930 lbs., 107.00 to 109.25 (108.79); 5 head, 925 lbs., 102.50 fleshy; 956 to 969 lbs., 102.00 to 103.75 (102.78); 13 head, 1000 lbs., 98.75. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 14 head, 505 to 513 lbs., 116.00 to 121.00 (119.92); 8 head, 737 lbs., 104.50.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 17 head, 744 lbs., 83.50; 5 head, 875 lbs., 75.00; 6 head, 910 lbs., 75.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 406 lbs., 131.00; 46 head, 462 lbs., 125.50; 518 to 520 lbs., 122.50 to 123.00 (122.75); 17 head, 596 lbs., 113.00; 13 head, 620 lbs., 112.00 to 117.75 (115.98); 672 to 699 lbs., 115.50 to 118.00 (116.98); 756 to 788 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00 (112.15); 22 head, 830 lbs., 107.75; 919 to 946 lbs., 101.25 to 103.50 (102.55); 1001 to 1027 lbs., 94.50 to 97.00 (95.58). Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 6 head, 625 lbs., 109.50; 6 head, 906 lbs., 99.50; 60 head, 968 lbs., 99.90; 1011 to 1015 lbs., 93.75 to 96.25 (95.19); 8 head, 1041 lbs., 89.00 fleshy; 8 head, 1136 lbs., 86.50.
