Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,930 head Sept. 16, compared to 1,801 head last week and 2,616 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared to last week, 350- to 700-pound feeder steers were $4 to $6 higher, 700- to 850-pound steers were steady to $1 higher, and 850- to 1000-pound steers were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 350 to 650 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, and 650- to 850-pound heifers were $3 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 17% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 66% steers and 34% heifers.
