Raven offers new steering systemRaven Industries, Sioux Falls, S.D., introduces the Smartrax Steering System. Smartrax provides an upgrade path for current lightbar users and makes steering technology available to a large number of growers and agricultural retailers. The system features Raven's patented Swath Smart lightbar, a Raven GPS receiver, HydraSteer hydraulic steering kit and Smartrax Controller. Smartrax, when coupled with a DGPS system, uses WAAS, Coast Guard Beacon or OmniStar signals and functions with a pass-to-pass accuracy of less than nine inches. The Smartrax system does require a Raven Swath Smart lightbar, but will function with any GPS receiver that provides standard NMEA output and a minimum update rate of 5 Hz. The Smartrax Steering System uses Raven's steering methods and Smart Bar technology. The technologies, along with the 10 Hz update rate and superior navigation capabilities of the Raven GPS receivers, allow the system to operate effectively at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour. The system features simple start-up, ease of use, easy upgrade ability for current lightbar users, and superior line acquisition and on-line performance.
