Pratt cattle sales report
Pratt Livestock Sales, Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,656 head Sept. 16, compared to 3,743 head last week and 2,432 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared with last week, 300- to 650-pound feeder steers and 300- to 600-pound feeder heifers were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers weighing 650 to 1000 pounds were $2 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 600 to 900 pounds were $1 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 3% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 68% steers and 32% heifers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 69.00 to 73.25 (70.88); high dressing, 1 head, 78.00.
