Oklahoma Beef Council executive director resigns positionOklahoma The Oklahoma Beef Council announced Sept. 16 that Michael Kelsey has resigned his position as the executive director effective Oct. 29. He has accepted a position as the executive vice president of the Nebraska Cattlemen. Kelsey has been with the OBC since August of 2000 as executive director and has played an important role in guiding Oklahoma's beef industry through some of its key milestones and achievements. "It has been a great honor and privilege to work with the outstanding leaders associated with Oklahoma's beef industry. It's never an easy decision to leave an organization where you have been so happy," said Kelsey. "We are saddened by this announcement; however, we support Michael in his decision," said James Campbell, chairman of the OBC Board of Directors. "He sets aggressive goals for himself and feels that this is a step towards those goals. Michael has a very broad knowledge of the cattle industry and we will miss him in Oklahoma." Programs and activities of the OBC will continue under the leadership of Melissa Morton, collections and compliance officer, who has been named interim executive director. "It's important that the Oklahoma Beef Council continues the work to increase beef demand on behalf of Oklahoma's more than 60,000 beef producers. We are fortunate to have a talented staff that will work hard to meet the goals set before them," said Campbell. The OBC Board of Directors is forming a search committee to accept and review resumes for the executive director position. Resumes are currently being accepted and the search committee will begin review on October 15, 2004. Applications may be sent to: Executive Director Search Committee, c/o James Campbell, 2312 Exchange Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73108. Date: 9/23/04
