West Plains stockyard sales
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 5,000 head Oct. 19, compared to 3,100 head last week and 5,563 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 550 pounds were mostly steady, except some conditioned calves suitable to turnout, showed instances of $1 to $2 higher, steers and heifers over 550 pounds were fully steady. The supply was moderate to heavy. Demand moderate to good. Several strings of weaned, vaccinated, and conditioned cattle in the offering, with those bringing a premium over those that are right off the cow with no health program. The supply included, 43% heifers and 29% of the receipts weighed over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 133.00 to 141.00, thin 144.00 to 149.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 134.00, package fancy 418 lbs., 139.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 128.00, fleshy or calves 104.00 to 114.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 119.00, calves 100.00 to 111.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 117.50, fleshy 105.00 to 107.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 102.50 to 110.00.
