Tulia cattle sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 4,794 head Oct. 18, compared to 1,594 head last week and 4,328 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers under 600 pounds were $6 to $12 higher, over 600 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 500- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 71% of the run, heifers 29%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 67%.
