Top tie down ropers entered at Amarillo ShowcaseTexas The 3rd Annual Jack Daniel's Amarillo Tie Down Roping will be held in Amarillo, Texas, on Nov. 19 and 20 during the "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping." Thirty-five of America's top professional Tie Down Ropers will compete for over $35,000 in prize money. The contestants will compete in two go-rounds during the first performance at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19; one go-round during the matinee (second) performance at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20; and the top 10 Tie Down Ropers after 3 go-rounds will compete in two short go-rounds during the evening (third) performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. The Tie Down Roper with the best time on five head will win $10,000. Several of the world's top calf ropers are scheduled to compete including two time and reigning PRCA All Around Champion Trevor Brazile of Decatur, Texas; four-time and reigning PRCA World Champion Tie Down Roper Cody Ohl of Stephenville, Texas; Houston Hutto of Del Rio, Texas; Jerome Schneeberger of Ponca City, Okla.; Rusty Sewalt of Comstock, Texas; Monty Lewis of Hereford, Texas; Jim Locke of Miami, Texas; Blair Burk of Duncan, Okla.; and 2003 Amarillo Showcase Champion Carter Edmondson of McCaulley, Texas. New for 2004 is the Amarillo Tie Down Match, a tournament style match which will be held during the fourth performance on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. The average winner and the roper with the fastest time from the 3rd Annual Jack Daniel's Amarillo Tie Down Roping will compete in this 4-man match along with PRCA World Champions, Trevor Brazile and Cody Ohl. The Colt Cluck Memorial Jr Invitational Tie Down Roping will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, starting at 7:30 a.m. This early morning performance is free to the public. Thirty-five youth tie-down ropers will be participating in this event which will benefit the children at Camp Alphie. Contestants include top ranking Tri-State High School Rodeo Association members Cass Cooper and Brian Johnson of Gruver; Jake Booze of Miami; Q. B. Cobb of Pampa; Blaine Harris of Amarillo; and Hayden Foreman and Wil Koch of Canyon along with ropers from Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. The Saturday evening (third) performance has been designated as 'Texas Lottery Night". The first 750 attendees will receive vouchers automatically entering them in the Texas Lottery Promotional Race. Local Media personnel from KGNC AM/FM Radio; KFDA Channel 10 TV; and the Amarillo Globe News will participate in the promotional race. A total of 250 scratch tickets will be distributed during the 'Texas Lottery Night' promotion. The 4th Annual NFSR Trade Show will be open during all four performances of the "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping." With over 40 booths full of all types of merchandise, the NFSR Trade Show is the perfect place for event attendees to get started on their Christmas lists. Top tie down ropers entered All 2004 "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping" performances will feature Tie Down Roping, Team Roping and the PRCA National Finals Steer Roping. Performances will be held at the Amarillo National Center Arena located on the Tri-State Fairgrounds on the weekend before Thanksgiving, Nov. 19, 20 and 21.
