St. Onge cattle sales report
The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 4,976 head Oct.15, compared to 6,041 head last week and 5,896 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds sold $4 to $6 higher. Steers 500 to 700 to pounds sold $3 to $4 lower. First all feeder cattle sale of the season. Buyer attendance good with good demand. About 50% of calves had spring and fall shots. Calves displayed light to moderate flesh. A larger number of heavy calves than last week. Heifers calves sold mostly steady. Feeder receipts included 61% steers, 39% heifers, with 25% over 600 pounds.
