Scholarship, cattle drive honors Houston Mull

Untitled

Missouri

In honor of a young man whose short life was dedicated to agriculture and helping others, Faces of Agriculture is hosting an old-fashioned cattle drive to benefit the Houston Mull Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Houston Mull, age 15, was headed to help a friend with his FFA steer when a tragic automobile accident took his life in July of 2004. Houston's parents, Robin and Brenda Mull, and his brother Brandon established the Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist other young people who hope to pursue a career in agriculture, which, according to Robin was "truly Houston's love."

The cattle drive will be held on Nov. 6. The drive will begin near Marshall, Mo., where the Mulls' cattle herd spent the summer. One hundred cow/calf pairs will be trailed nearly 20 miles to the Mull farm. Following the trail drive, guests will enjoy dinner around the campfire, cowboy poetry and live music.

Trent Loos, organizer of the event, said the initial response has been overwhelming. "We invite anyone who is interested to be involved. Whether it be bring your own horse find a borrowed horse or just join us in the evening activities this event is truly to honor the life of a young man who has touched the lives of so many in a very short time."

Persons or groups interested in contributing to the Memorial Fund who don't want to participate in the cattle drive may send donations to: Houston E Mull FFA Memorial Scholarship Fund, Community Bank, 811 W. College, Marshall, MO 65340.

To register to participate in the cattle drive, or for more information, contact Faces of Agriculture at 970-481-1389, or visit the website at www.FacesOfAg.com.
