Rotarians recognize 4-H senior record book winners during national 4-H weekColorado The Fort Morgan Rotary Club recognized twelve 4-H members for their outstanding record books recently at the Fort Morgan Elks Club. Fort Morgan Rotarians sponsor the record book contest conducting both the judging and recognition of youth's efforts. Rotarians involved in this effort were chair, Linda de Rojo, and committee members, Betsy Porter, Larry Porter, Rose Anderson and Scott Bryan. Youth recognized were Tyler Amen, Claire Dixon, Derek Jones, Laura Klenda, Stephanie Lebsock, Justin McMinn, Zane McMinn, Stefani Oliveira, Ashley Swack, Samantha Wacker, Kassi Watson, and Taylor White. The Fort Morgan Rotarians mark their 68th year in support of the 4-H program and over 50 years in judging record books. We appreciate the support of the Fort Morgan Rotarians in sponsoring this program and recognizing these youth for their hard work in record keeping. A member of the Bijou Go-Getters 4-H Club, Tyler Amen was honored for his excellent records in market beef. He completed his ninth year in 4-H. Amen has also completed projects in market sheep, market swine, catch-it rabbit and shotgun. Amen was involved in livestock judging for seven years and is presently attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Amen is the son of Tim Amen and Tammy Amen of Fort Morgan. Claire Dixon was recognized for her record in market goat. She has been a 4-H member for ten years with projects in veterinary science, foods, pies, crocheting, quilting, genealogy, archery, entomology, horticulture, geology, market beef, market sheep, market swine, dairy, rabbits, poultry, and junior leadership. Currently the president of Cowpokes n Cactus 4-H, she is also the District No. I 4-H president and she will be the president of Morgan County 4-H Council in 2004-2005. She is a member of the livestock judging team and the Massachusetts 4-H exchange group. Dixon is the daughter of Mike and Janice Dixon of Brush. Recognized for his outstanding records in ducks was Derek Jones of Brush. A four year 4-H member, Jones has had projects in market poultry, breeding poultry, welding, fishing, week, catch-it chickens, catch-it goat, small engines and entomology. He has represented Morgan County with his projects for several years at the Colorado State Fair and has received other record book awards. Jones competed at Morgan County's Creative Cooks Contest and was selected to represent Morgan County at the Colorado State Fair competition. His parents are DeAnn Jones of Brush and Eric Jones of Hillrose. Laura Klenda was recognized for her veterinary science record. Klenda is a twelve year 4-H member and she belongs to the Wildcat 4-H Club. She has also represented Morgan County at State Fair with her veterinary science project and her leather craft project. The leather craft project was the champion project in its unit in 2004. Klenda has served as a county fair superintendent and as a state fair teen clerk. She has also had projects in market beef, horses, and photography. Klenda has also participated in the catch-it lamb and catch-it beef contests. Klenda is the daughter of Tracy Wacker and Greg Klenda, of Fort Morgan In her eighth year in 4-H, Stephanie Lebsock had an outstanding record in catch-it dairy. Currently the president of the Lads n Lassies 4-H Club, Lebsock has had projects in breeding beef, market beef, breeding sheep, market sheep, market swine, rabbits, veterinary science and cake decorating. Lebsock represented Morgan County in the Senior Team Demonstration Contest held during the Colorado State Fair and placed first, winning a trip to National Western Roundup. Lebsock is also a member of the Morgan County livestock judging team and a Morgan County 4-H Senator. Lebsock's parents are Steve and Barbara Lebsock of Fort Morgan. The Rotarians recognized Justin McMinn for his ceramics records. Justin McMinn also completed projects in woodworking, photography and welding this year. He is a ten year 4-H member. In 2004, McMinn's ceramics project was selected to represent Morgan County at the Colorado State Fair competition. McMinn has also taken projects in veterinary science, video photography, and wildlife. He is a member of the Morgan Sandburs 4-H Club. His parents are Cary and Shari McMinn of Fort Morgan. Also a son of Cary and Shari McMinn of Fort Morgan is Zane McMinn. He was recognized for his record book in shooting sports. A member of Morgan Sandburs 4-H Club, McMinn has also had projects in breeding rabbits, leather craft, veterinary science, market goats, and model craft. McMinn competed at the Colorado State Fair this summer in the archery competition. His leather craft project was also selected to represent Morgan County in its unit at the Colorado State Fair and received the champion award in its unit. The Rotarians recognized Stefani Oliveira, for her photography records. Oliveira also completed projects in market and breeding goat in 2004. She is a three year 4-H member of the Weldon Valley 4-H Club. Her photography project was champion at the county fair and selected to represent Morgan County at the Colorado State Fair. Oliveira has been a club officer and has won previous record book awards as a junior 4-H member. Her parents are Paul and Laurie Oliveira of Weldona. Ashley Swack is attending Casper College in Wyoming and was unable to attend to receive her recognition for her records in market swine. Ashley Swack completed her 10th year in 4-H. She is a member of the Bijou Go-Getters 4-H Club in Fort Morgan. Swack has had projects in market beef, market sheep, market swine, foods, pies, beef breeding, welding, ceramics, and leadership. She has been a record book winner, exhibited at the Colorado State Fair and participated in the county livestock judging program. In 2003, Swack served as Morgan County 4-H Council vice president, a Morgan County 4-H Senator and represented Morgan County at Citizenship ... Washington Focus. Her parents are Ken and Lori West of Fort Morgan. A member of the Lads n Lassies 4-H Club, Samantha Wacker has been in 4-H for two years. Wacker was recognized for her breeding sheep record book. She has also had projects in dairy, market sheep, horse and veterinary science. Last year Wacker served as a fair superintendent and participated in the catch-it lamb contest. She has also taken projects in market sheep, foods and photography. She is the daughter of Wendell Wacker of Fort Morgan. Kassi Watson received her record book award in horses. She is a six year 4-H member of Morgan Sandburs 4-H Club. Watson has also had projects in decorate your duds. She has competed at the county and state demonstration contests as well as the county, district and state 4-H talent contests for several years. In 2004, Watson was the overall grand champion winner in the senior solo division at the Colorado State Fair. She has also served as a club officer for several years. Watson is the daughter of Bernard and Beverly Watson of Fort Morgan. Completing her 5th year in 4-H, is Taylor White, a member of the Golden Clover 4-H Club. Her parents are Cathy Kral of Brush and Neal White of Fort Morgan. White received recognition for her records in clothing. She has also has taken foods as a 4-H project and she has won record book recognition in the past as a junior member. White has been a 4-H club officer, and has participated in fashion revue and youth fest. White's clothing project was selected to represent Morgan County at the Colorado State Fair in August.
