OKC West cattle sale notesThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,899 head Oct. 20, compared to 2,786 head last week and 4,694 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers were $2 to $4 lower. Feeder heifers were $1 to $3 lower in a light test. Demand was moderate for feeder cattle that were mostly plain in quality,. Calves were $2 to $8 higher. Demand continues very good for calves. Calves were quality, average, few attractive. Feeder cattle were in medium to moderate flesh. Calves were in medium to many in fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Demand was moderate to good and improved for packer cows. Demand was good for replacement cows. A total of 560 cows and bulls sold with 38% going to packers. The supply consisted of 54% over 600 pounds, 35% under 600 pounds, 11% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 40% of feeder and calf supply.
