Not your typical list of employee benefitsLet's call it part of your benefit package. Fall days are absolutely some of the most beautiful all year long. Most people, however, are stuck behind a desk and miss those precious hours of warm sunshine and cool breeze. When they head off to work or school, it is cold and by the time they return, the temperature has dropped again. Agriculture producers are different. You get to soak in the fall days and use them as fuel for the gray winter months. This isn't the only perk that God gives the caretakers of His world. God's Kingdom, offers a wonderful benefit package to those entrusted to care for His bounty. Health package: Exercise facilities are located throughout the work area. Strength training comes in the form of 50-pound sacks of feed and seed and 80-pound bales of hay. Employees will benefit from aerobic activity such as walking back to the farm from the out-of-gas truck or broken-down tractor. Occasionally, the cows will provide intense aerobic activity as you chase them down the road and back to the pasture they crawled out of. Keep in mind, however many agriculture activities are hazardous, so it is essential to be safe. As always consult your doctor before any physical activity. Vacation: Vacation is limited to traveling to farm shows, farm auctions, livestock shows, the county and state fairs and parts trips. However, family is welcomed and encouraged to attend. Investment for future: While there is no 401k package per se, employment with God's Kingdom ensures a future for His world. By responsibly handling your position, you will guarantee environmental quality and the world's production and ability to feed future generations. Your responsible management protects the soil, water, air and that which grows in it. Plus, God provides a retirement plan that is out of this world. Exclusive benefits: But perhaps the most rewarding part of this benefit package are those benefits God's Kingdom reserves only for farmers and ranchers. --The feeling of making the first tracks in a newly fallen snow. --The first-hand experience of the miracle of life as you see a foal, calf, lamb or piglet enter this world. --The sense of loss and perspective as one of God's creatures ends his cycle of life. --The sensation of running just-harvested grain through your hands. --The happiness you feel as your children learn life's lessons on the farm. --The satisfaction of a bin full of grain, a barn full of hay, and heart full of pride. I have spent my entire life as a part of a farm family. I can relate to the frustrations agriculture producers face --when the new corner post gets backed over by the grain truck or a belt breaks 10 minutes after you fixed a flat tire. That's why I suggest you save this copy of your benefit package to review--particularly at times when your head is in your hands with worry. It may not be the typical package, but it is what's been drawing young producers back to the farm for centuries.
