New pasta cookbook available from North Dakota Wheat commissionNorth Dakota The North Dakota Wheat Commission has developed a new cookbook in celebration of National Pasta Month in October and Pasta Lovers' Week in North Dakota, Oct. 24 to 30. Titled "20 Years of Pasta," the cookbook contains more than 60 prize-winning recipes from an annual recipe contest sponsored by the Wheat Commission between 1985 and 2004. With pasta as the star ingredient, the recipes range from soups and salads to appetizers and desserts, from beef and pork entrees to stir-fry and Mexican favorites. The best pasta is made with 100 percent semolina, ground from the heart of the durum Wheat kernel. North Dakota farmers lead the United States in growing durum, annually producing about 70 percent of the nation's crop. The cookbooks are a featured prize in the "Use Your Noodle" Pasta Puzzle drawing being hosted in October by this newspaper. The cookbooks also make great Christmas gifts. To order yours, send your name, complete mailing address and a check for $4.50 made payable to the North Dakota Wheat Commission to: "Pasta Cookbook," c/o N.D. Wheat Commission, 4023 State Street, Bismarck, ND 58503-0690. Please allow four weeks for delivery. Date: 10/20/04
