Joplin regional cattle sales
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,000 head Oct. 18, compared to 3,920 head last week and 8,338 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers weighing under 600 pounds advanced $4 to $6. Heavier weights, mostly were yearlings sold fully steady to $3 higher. There was a heavier supply of 400- to 550-pound thin calves with trade very active. Prospects for Wheat pasture west of here very good with several new buyers in attendance. The feeder supply included 52% steers, 36% heifers, 11% bulls, with nearly 28% weighing over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 146.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00, thin 127.00 to 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00, thin 128.00 to 129.00; 600 to 780 lbs., 105.00 to 114.50; 800 to 810 lbs., 105.50 to 109.00. Large frame 1, 470 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 116.50. Large frame 1 and 2, 440 to 510 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00, 550 to 720 lbs., 107.00 to 115.00. Large frame 2, 430 to 510 lbs., 119.00 to 126.00; 550 to 825 lbs., 104.00 to 115.00.
