Wyobraska cattle sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Nov. 20 reported receipts of 9,650 head, compared to 11,200 head last week and 12,400 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.
Compared to last week at the Wyoming auctions steer and heifers calves sold steady to $7 higher, with instances of $10 higher, few yearlings steady to $5 higher. In the direct feeder cattle trade feeder steers and heifers sold generally steady with last week. Direct trade was slow. Demand was moderate. Buyer and seller inquiry was moderate. Yearling supplies were limited. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 56% of the supply, heifers 44%, with 28% weighing over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 2025 head of the total receipts.
