Wet weather slows corn harvestMinnesota Limited progress was made with the corn harvest during the week ending Nov. 21 due to very wet conditions, particularly in the central portion of the state, according to the Minnesota Agricultural Statistics Service, Nov. 22. Some producers were reported applying fall fertilizer. Fall tillage was also slowly progressing due to the wet conditions in fields. The average temperature for the week was 39.0 degrees, 11.0 degrees above normal. Statewide topsoil moisture supplies as of Nov. 19 were rated 4 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 21 percent surplus. Corn harvest was 89 percent complete compared to 99 percent last year and 98 percent for the five-year average. Sunflowers were 72 percent harvested compared to 95 percent for the five-year average.
