Rooney's sweep Kansas State Fair beef showKansas Bret and Tera Rooney, of Satanta, Kan., exhibited their beef projects at the 2004 Kansas State Fair, in Hutchinson, Kan. On Sept. 11, Bret Rooney showed his crossbred steer and received Champion Crossbred Steer. Later that day, during the Grand Drive, Rooney was awarded Overall Grand Champion Market Steer. His steer weighed 1300 lbs. and was purchased by Sterling Silver and Dillons for $10,000. Sept. 12, Tera Rooney showed her Maine-Anjou breeding heifer and received Champion Maine-Anjou heifer. She also was awarded Supreme Champion Breeding Heifer. This was the same heifer that Rooney received Reserve Supreme Champion honors at the 2004 National Junior Maine-Anjou Show in Springfield, Illinois in June. Bret is 18 years old and is a senior at Satanta High School. Tera is 16 years old and is a sophomore at Satanta High School. They are the son and daughter of Pat and Jeanette Rooney. Bret and Tera have been involved in 4-H since they were 7 years old. They have exhibited at the Kansas State Fair for 5 years.
