Northeast Colorado Bull Test begins 29th yearColorado The Northeast Colorado Bull Test Association (NCBTA) started its 29th annual bull test with delivery of the bulls on Oct. 25 and 26. David Colburn, Logan County Extension livestock agent and NCBTA test coordinator, reported that 77 bulls from 25 cooperators representing six breed groups were weighed on Nov. 1 and 2 to officially begin the test. The bulls posted an average on-test weight of 745 and weight per day of age (WDA) of 2.97 pounds. Following is a summary of breed averages for the NCBTA bulls. The bulls will complete the 120-day test March 1 and 2, 2005. Bulls will be indexed based on average daily gain and weight per day of age. Approximately the top two-thirds in each breed group will be offered for auction at the annual NCBTA sale April 2, 2005. NCBTA is offering a calving ease division within the Black Angus breed group. The calving ease bulls are tagged with GREEN tags for easy identification and begin with number 41 and end with 48. The test site is located between Atwood and Akron, Colo., on Colorado Highway 63. Visitors are always welcome at the test site.
