New sorghum insurance product available for 2005Producers now have another option when it comes time to insure next year's sorghum crop. "Group Risk Income Protection (GRIP) pays producers when county yields are lower than normal. It may provide more cost-effective coverage than other crop insurance products," said Tim Lust, Executive Director of the National Grain Sorghum Producers. "NGSP has worked diligently for the last year to get this insurance product to our producers and we look forward to helping them evaluate if the coverage is right for their individual operations." To make an informed decision, producers should encourage their insurance agents to learn more about the coverage. Producers can also learn more about GRIP by calling the NGSP office at 806-749-3478 or by attending the Kansas Commodity Classic on Nov. 30 at the Plaza Inn in Garden City. National Grain Sorghum Producers represents sorghum growers nationwide. Headquartered in the heart of the U.S. grain sorghum belt at Lubbock, Texas, the organization works to ensure sorghum's profitability through market development, research, education and legislative representation.
