Woodward auction news

The Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 8,884 head April 30, compared to 5,641 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $3 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were $1.50 to $3 higher. Steer calves in a limited test, stocker steers were $2 to $3 higher. Heifer calves were $3 higher. Demand was very good for all classes. Quality was average to attractive, end plain. The supply was comprised of 67% steers, 31% heifers with 93% weighing over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. A total of 771 cows and bulls sold with 47% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 368 lbs., 140.00; 522 to 524 lbs., 111.50 to 120.00 (115.70); 513 lbs., 124.25 thin; 17 head, 551 lbs., 119.50; 555 to 574 lbs., 122.50 to 123.00 (122.58) thin; 2 head, 618 lbs., 108.00; 657 to 694 lbs., 106.00 to 110.35 (109.23); 703 to 746 lbs., 104.10 to 106.75 (105.73); 751 to 797 lbs., 100.25 to 104.85 (102.06); 801 to 845 lbs., 96.00 to 100.75 (99.00); 854 to 898 lbs., 94.75 to 98.85 (96.61); 901 to 948 lbs., 90.75 to 94.35 (93.11); 961 to 991 lbs., 89.75 to 90.50 (90.46); 1010 to 1020 lbs., 89.00 to 90.25 (89.73). Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 10 head, 672 lbs., 104.75; 752 to 782 lbs., 100.50 to 101.50 (100.76); 921 to 924 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 333 lbs., 115.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 102.25 to 105.10 (103.89); 58 head, 675 lbs., 103.25; 701 to 723 lbs., 98.00 to 103.00 (102.60); 58 head, 783 lbs., 96.75; 20 head, 818 lbs., 95.50; 864 to 870 lbs., 89.75 to 90.60 (90.50). Lean, 131 head, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1425 lbs., 49.50 to 52.75; high dressing, 53.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 49.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 34 head, 1400 to 2250 lbs., 62.00 to 65.00; high dressing, 66.50 to 67.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 60.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 5 years old, 1175 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, hi, blacks 880.00; 4 to 7 years old, 1200 to 1225 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 735.00 to 750.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 1 to 3 years old, 900 to 1000 lbs., 80- to 175-lb. calves, average to high quality blacks, 1190.00 to 1280.00; 2 to 4 years old, 900 to 975 lbs., with 80- to 125-lb. calves, average to low quality, 840.00 to 860.00; 4 to 5 years old, 1350 lbs., 100- to 175-lb. calves, high quality blacks, 1140.00; 4 to 5 years old, 1025 lbs., 80- to 150-lb. calves, average quality blacks, 950.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1075 lbs., 80- to 125-lb. calves, average to low quality, 750.00 to 790.00.
