West Plains cattle sales
The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,203 head May 4, compared to 2,734 head last week and 2,534 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 550 pounds opened steady to $2 higher, and were firm to $3 higher later in the sale. Weights over 550 pounds were $3 to $6 higher, with the majority of 550- to 750-pound cattle, especially heifers, were $5 to $6 higher. The supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers, with ear 40% over 600 pounds.
