Youth compete in state beef ambassador competitionNebraska The Nebraska Beef Ambassador Competition was held Feb. 21 in Kearney. The competition is hosted by the Nebraska CattleWomen and sponsored by the Nebraska Farm Credit Services of America and the Nebraska Beef Council. Contestants presented non-illustrated speeches regarding beef and the beef industry and were individually questioned to determine their one-on-one communication skills and overall beef knowledge. More than $500 in prize monies were awarded to the winners. The winners also have the opportunity to earn additional money for continuing to present their speeches. Winners in the senior division were: first place, Stephanie Erickson, Whitman; second place, Jessica Iodence, Hemingford; third place, Rebecca Grant, Marsland. Winners in the junior division were: first place, Sadie Erickson, Whitman; second place, Desarae Messersmith, Maywood; and third place Kate Kraenow, Hemingford. Stephanie Erickson will receive an all-expense paid trip to the 2004 National Beef Ambassador Competition to be held in October in Sheridan, Wyoming. The national competition is conducted by the American National CattleWomen. Date: 3/17/04
